The challenge

Peppers Media needed to generate qualified B2B leads for US-market clients, but early campaigns were producing volume without quality - plenty of form fills, very few that turned into real sales conversations.

What we did

We rebuilt targeting around audience segmentation rather than broad reach: Google Search captured active demand from problem-aware and competitor-comparison searches, while Facebook and LinkedIn built awareness among audiences segmented by job function, seniority, and company size.

The key addition was a lead-scoring layer sitting between ad platform and sales team. Every lead was scored on ICP fit (company size, industry, title) and intent signals (pricing page visits, demo requests) before it ever reached a salesperson - so sales time went to the leads most likely to close, not the first ones to arrive.

Follow-up sequences were restructured around a 14-day window: an immediate acknowledgement, a relevant case study on day two, a direct ask on day four, and a value-add touch before a final, low-pressure close-out email.

The results

  • 250+ qualified leads generated in six months, filtered through the scoring model before being counted
  • 60% reduction in cost per lead, from tighter audience segmentation and reduced spend on low-intent broad targeting
  • 15% lead-to-client conversion rate, well above the unscored baseline Peppers Media was seeing before
  • A reusable scoring framework Peppers Media's team could apply to future client campaigns without our involvement

The lesson that carried into every campaign after this one: cost per lead is a vanity metric on its own. Cost per qualified lead is what actually predicts revenue.
